VERA (Venture Evaluation Results & Analysis) is run by Leanlab Education. This page explains what VERA collects, why, and what we do with it.

Who uses VERA

People from edtech ventures in Leanlab research programs, Leanlab staff, and Learning Commons staff. Accounts are by invitation only.

What we collect

  • Your name and email address, to give you access.
  • If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile picture from Google, used only to sign you in. VERA does not access your Google Drive, Gmail or other Google data.
  • What you upload: content from your product, such as questions, texts, or feedback with the student work it responds to, and the evaluation results.
  • Security records: sign-ins, uploads and other actions, with the time and IP address.
  • Two cookies: one keeps you signed in, one remembers light or dark mode.

Student information

VERA is not for student personal information. Before uploading, you confirm your file contains none, and VERA rejects files that look like they do (names, emails, IDs and similar). Student work must be de-identified.

How we use it

To run the evaluations you ask for, show you the results, let Leanlab researchers review them as part of the research program, send you emails about your uploads, and keep VERA secure. We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising.

Who processes it for us

Supabase (database and sign-in) and Vercel (hosting) store and serve VERA. To evaluate your content, VERA sends it to AI model providers (Anthropic, OpenAI and Google) through Learning Commons’ evaluators, and looks up standards in Learning Commons’ Knowledge Graph. Email is sent through Resend. Each handles data only to provide its service to us.

Sharing

Results are seen by your venture’s team and by Leanlab and Learning Commons staff. Leanlab may share read-only links to your results with the program’s funder. We don’t share your information otherwise unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

For as long as the research program needs it, so ventures can compare results over time. Ask us and we’ll delete your account or your uploads.
